MOAB Instructor assesses theclinical staff's educational needs and provides education related to allaspects of MOAB to staff. First and foremost, the MOAB instructor is a clinicalexpert with talent for sharing their knowledge in management of aggressivebehavior.
The MOAB Instructor
a. Coordinates and/or assists with MOABcourses which are required to maintain competency.
b. Assists with monitoring inventory ofsupplies and books.
c. Accepts responsibility for professionalgrowth and development.
d. Demonstrates a commitment to thephilosophy and objectives of the A.R. Gould Hospital's organization.
e. Maintains educational expertise in MOABand keeping instructor certification up to date.
- Performs other work related duties as assigned.
- Holds primary clinical position in another department within the organization.
Variable workschedule requires business hours with some evening and/or weekend work to meetorganizational needs. May be required to work with night staff after hours.
EDUCATION SKILLS, EXPERIENCEREQUIREMENTS:
1. Comfort and expertise presenting standardized curriculum material and content to groups

4. High School diploma or equivalent.
PHYSICAL DEMAND REQUIREMENTS:
MOAB requiresphysical, hands on activities aimed at disarming and defusing potentialvolatile situations. The MOAB instructor must be fit and have the physicalstamina to demonstrate all physical skills outlined in the most recentManagement of Aggressive Behavior Manuals. Hands-on skills include: escorts,resistive escorts, and defensive tactics for guns, edged weapons and chokeholds (seehttps://www.moabtraining.com/courses/moab-2-day-basic-course-16-hours) for moredetails. The following lists outlines general physical demands for educators,with the understanding that the actual MOAB course requirements may exceedthese.
1. Sitting. 1-3 hours/day.
2. Standing. 4-7 hours/day.
3. Walking. 4-7 hours/day
4. Lifting. 35-50 lbs with good body mechanics.
5. Twisting. Frequently, or 500-1000 twists/day.
6. Bending. 130-480 bends hours/day.
7. Squatting/Kneeling. 1-3 hours/day.
8. Endurance. Heavy energy requirements 7-9 mets.
9. Wrist Position. Extensive deviation.
10. Pinching. Frequent, 130-480 pinches per day.
11. Hand/Wrist Repetitions. 1000-2880/day or more.
12. Manual Dexterity. Frequent fine motor skills required.
13. Either Handedness. 70%- 100% of job cycle time.
14. Both Handedness. 70%-100% of job cycle time.
15. Sight. Requires corrected 20/20 near vision and minimal far vision.
16. Hearing. Can hear whispered voice at eight (8) feet (FAA class II).
17. Speech. Frequent clear speaking ability required.
18. Exposure to Infection. Minimal.
1. High/Low Temperature. Work environment 70 - 80?F.
2. Noise. Slight, occasionally fairly loud sounds.
3. Working with Others. Close association is frequent and compromisesa major portion of the job.
4. Confined Spaces or Cramped Body Positions.Work in cramped positions/confined spaces (3-5 hours per week).
5. Body Injuries. Slight likelihood of significant traumaticinjury - deep cuts, fractures or permanent disabling injuries.

Works directly with persons who are or maybecome ill, disabled, or dying on a regular basis; may be present at the deathbed and have to care for the body of the deceased; must possess skills to copewith stresses associated with illness, disability, dying, and death.
