Position Description:

The Line Patroller position is based out of Kinder Morgan’s Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America (NGPL) Searcy Compressor Station located at 2227 Highway 267 South, Searcy, Arkansas 72143. This is a Monday through Friday position with some on-call responsibilities nights and weekends. This is a great opportunity if you are an experienced Operations Specialist, Equipment and Controls Technician, Maintenance Manager, Natural Gas Operations Technician, Railway Engineer, Quality Tech, Corrosion Technician, Gas Mechanic or similar.

Primary Purpose:

Implement the Company Damage Prevention Program including performing and coordinating work group activities including patrolling, locating, construction inspection, and excavation inspection of Company gas/liquids pipelines, appurtenances, compressor stations, process plants and other related facilities. Level 1 is an entry level position with approximately six to twelve months of training/work experience in order progress to next level.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Knowledge of compressor station, gathering and transmission pipeline systems operations.

Knowledge of operating costs and best practices associated with the equipment in area of responsibility.

Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, P&IDs, and other diagrams.

Knowledge and experience in safe handling practices of flammable gases, liquids and high and low pressure systems.

Knowledge of company policies, procedures and practices, and regulatory and tariff requirements.

Possess a valid driver's license and meet company insurability requirements.

Must respond to, and address, callouts and emergencies after regular business hours including after dark hours, which may require carrying a communication device.

Good verbal and written communication skills.

Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisor(s), prioritize work schedule, focus attention on details, and follow rules.

Must be able to carry 50 Lbs. for a reasonable distance.

Must be able to use a probe bar to locate pipeline.

Must be able to withstand extreme weather conditions.

Depending upon location and workload, travel will be required.

Valid Driver’s license

Achieve and maintain all qualifications and progression requirements applicable to the job classification.

Good record of safe work practices.

Basic computer skills (knowledge of MS Office, various operation systems and other company software).

Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals.)

Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, P&IDs and other diagrams.

Good verbal and written communications skills.

Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisor(s), adhere to required work schedules, focus attention on details and follow work rules.

Ability to speak and understand English.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to withstand extreme weather conditions.

Must be able to traverse all Right of Way (ROW) terrain and inspect pipe in common Bell-holes to assess if O&M 204 is followed.

Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 pounds in awkward positions, and 50 pounds from floor to waist.

Must be able to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions, climb vertical access ladders and stairwells, carry up to 50 pounds and to see, hear, walk and talk effectively.

Working Conditions:

Must respond to, and address, callouts and emergencies after regular business hours.

May be required to carry a company-provided cell phone/pager, and be available to respond during working and non-working hours.

Depending on location and workload, travel will be required.

Be available for shift work when applicable.

Preferred Education, Experience, Certifications, Competencies, Skills, and Abilities:

Computer skills: Proficient in MS Office: Word, Excel, And Outlook. Experience with various operation systems and other company specific software; Asset Management Software (Maximo), Incident Management Systems (IMPACT), Learning Management Systems (LMS), etc…

Mathematical skills: Proficient in addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals.

Knowledge of operating costs and best practices associated with the equipment in the area of responsibility.

Experienced with the MV valve and customer’s knowledge to assist when needed to handle Emergency issues and/or inform Local Operations Supervisor of physical position when called upon.

Knowledge of company policies, procedures and practices, regulatory and tariff requirements.

Knowledge and experience in safe handling practices of flammable gases, liquids and high and low pressure systems.

Detailed knowledge of compressor or pump station, terminal, process plant, gas treatment, storage facilities, gathering and transmission pipeline systems operations.

Job level commensurate with skills and experience. The above statements describe the general nature and level of work being performed. This position may perform other duties as assigned.
