A Certified Nursing Assistant is responsible for providing resident/patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse. Assists residents/patients with activities of daily living and assists in the maintenance of a safe, clean environment for residents/patients on the rehab. unit. S/he must have a basic understanding of the fundamentals of Rehabilitation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

· Provide safe and efficient direct resident/patient care under the direction of the RN.

· Keep charge nurse informed of the patient's status and changes as well as problems.

· Participate in department performance improvement activities.

· Comply with mandated hospital and department education programs.

· Accept responsibility for professional growth and development.

· Demonstrate a commitment to the philosophy and objectives of the AR Gould organization. · Age specific standards: The individual in this position must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of the patient. In addition, s/he must possess the ability to assess resident/patient data relative to age specific needs and provide care.

· Excellent documentation skills with the ability to learn and incorporate FIM charting.

· Demonstrate proficiency with resident/patient transfers.

· Demonstrate an understanding of adaptive equipment and how it is used.

EDUCATION, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

· Successful completion of an approved CNA program with not less than 150 hours of instruction.

· Currently active on the CNA registry.

· Must be able to read and write with proficiency to accomplish all NA responsibilities.

· Prior experience is not required.

· Must maintain annual educational requirements of 12 hours and work an 8 hour shift in a 2 year period to maintain registry status.
