Description

As a member of Acxiom's Global Technology Solutions (GTS) unit, the Data Operations Engineer will be integrated into a global (24x7) team of engineers that provide 2nd/3rd tier operational and application support for clients requiring assistance with our proprietary online database marketing platform, IMPACT-X. The platform consists of in-house applications, which span multiple technologies, and run on an Oracle database backbone.

This individual will be dedicated to supporting and improving IMPACT-X's data processing and analytical reporting operations to increase overall client satisfaction. When presented with issues ranging from software, hardware, network, and database, the Data Operations Engineer will develop an understanding of the issue, and then provide a well-thought-out solution. A successful Data Operations Engineer should be able to communicate effectively at all levels and possess the analytical reasoning skills to troubleshoot system and application related issues.

Responsibilities:
*Monitor and Support our 24x7 production environment through the use of various software and monitoring tools
*Respond to and Resolve application issues submitted by phone, email, or through our online remedial ticketing system
*Troubleshoot and Address alerts and complex application job failures
*Assure that all job processes and production client data marts are updated, available, and meet SLA compliance
*Coordinate cross-functional collaborative efforts with other technical teams when investigating live "client-impacting" production issues
*Provide recommendations to R&D in regards to product quality assurance by testing IMPACT-X's platform architecture for optimum usability and performance
*Identify flaws in our application, while driving for improvement through detailed workflow analysis
*Facilitate clear, accurate and thorough communication between clients and technical teams; Drive escalation of the clients' needs when necessary
*Provide regular updates to stakeholders on status and progress throughout the investigation and resolution of an issue
*Perform administrative tasks associated with the IMPACT-X platform (managing user accounts, project managing and executing the start-up of new clients, and decommissioning old clients from our platform, etc.)
*Document and propose solutions to known application issues; Implement workarounds
*Enforce and Maintain standard processes for the purpose of protecting the integrity of our production environment
*Train new technical personnel on existing processes and good practices
*Document case studies and investigation details in our online repository

Qualifications

Education and Qualifications:
*BS Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a similar technical degree
*1+ years of experience in a production operations support environment, relevant field, or equivalent experience
*2+ years of experience in a client/customer service-related function, relevant field, or equivalent experience

Requirements and Soft Skills:
*Excellent customer service skills
*Must be able to handle multiple tasks at the same time
*Ability to shift priorities on the fly; Must be able to factor in business needs, including client impact and urgency during case prioritization
*Must be detail-oriented and have the ability to problem solve under tight time constraints
*Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; Must be able to explain technical concepts to non-technical users and serve as the liaison between the two groups
*Superior analytical/troubleshooting skills; Must be able to demonstrate the understanding of complex technical details
*Ability to learn new technologies quickly
*Must be flexible with work schedule

Required Technical Skills:
*Oracle (Relational Databases)
*SQL, PL/SQL
*OLAP, Data Warehouses
*Unix, Solaris, Linux
*Windows 2K, XP, Vista
*Outlook / Excel / Word

Nice to Have Skills and Experience:
*General knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, FTP, SMTP, DNS, SSL, PGP)
*General knowledge of middleware products (Hawk, Rendezvous, AppWorx)
*General knowledge of Java, Perl, HTML, XML, and browser technologies
*Experience within the Online Marketing Industry
*Experience within an Operations Environment while working with multiple client scenarios
