General Summary:

Responsible for performing economic, competitive, and strategic analysis for setting the long-term direction and evolution of the wireless network infrastructure.

Essential Job Duties and Expectations:

* Provide technical support for project planning, development, implementation and modification
* Contribute to engineering standards development, balancing corporate and customer needs
* Research new technology for potential corporate application
* Use professional concepts and company objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways
* Work on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors
* Exercise judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results
* Determine methods and procedures on new assignments and provide guidance to other personnel
* Act as a technical consultant with in-depth understanding of the current and planned network architecture of a multi-vendor wireless network
* Stay current with standards and competitive trends including network evolution to IMS/MMD, VoIP, and 4G
* Perform assessments of infrastructure suppliers future product plans, engineering design, capabilities, and costs
* Work with infrastructure suppliers in development and review of equipment and software roadmaps, feature prioritization, feature requests and requirements
* Function as technical resource for procurement activities and negotiations

Minimum Requirements:

* Bachelor s Degree in Engineering or related field and 5 years professional work experience or 9 years professional level related Engineering/Technical related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and professional level related Engineering/Technical experience
* Critical analytical and troubleshooting skills to assess and correct location errors

* Excellent communication, presentation and collaboration skills required to effectively communicate at all levels of organization and across functional groups
* Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
* Demonstrated ability to successfully lead and prioritize large and/or complex projects
* In depth knowledge of core network infrastructure and operations

Desired Qualifications:

* Planning or engineering experience with mobile call processing (SS7, ANSI-41, Switch Translations)
* Planning or engineering experience with switch feature analysis and requirements
* Planning or engineering experience with VoIP, IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), and wireless voice/data networks
* Solid understanding of wireless access technologies (CDMA, EVDO, GSM, UMTS, 802.11, LTE)
* Fundamental understanding of packet data networks
* Fundamental understanding of financial and accounting concepts
* Ability to stay current with the competitive and technological developments in the industry
* Minimum 5 years experience in telecommunications industry
