3M Industrial Minerals Products Division The Little Rock facilities are a leading producer of rock granules used in the manufacture of roofing products nationwide.
Job Summary
The position of Plant Engineer in Little Rock provides engineering expertise and technical assistance across two sites for:
- The installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and improvement of facilities and equipment.
- Development and implementation of maintenance procedures for the safe, reliable and efficient operations of the Quarry and Production facilities.
Major Job Responsibilities
The Plant Engineer will be responsible for but not limited to the following specific duties:
Using TPM / Lean tools and processes, provide technical assistance and development to maintenance personnel in diagnosing, troubleshooting, determining root causes of failures, and eliminating equipment
problems. This includes leadership of a Preventive Maintenance Sub-Pillar within our site performance improvement process.
Utilizing the Maximo CMMS, analyze maintenance and equipment performance data to identify repetitive equipment issues and implement procedures to improve reliability, uptime, and quality product.
Contribute to Maintenance Conscious Engineering (MCE) by participating in development and coordination of engineering projects, including design, procurement and installation of new equipment and
modification of existing equipment.
Completion of assigned plant projects using Six Sigma processes.
Facilitate the identification and communication of possible improvements in maintenance techniques, procedures and methods.
Evaluate reports of plant engineering and maintenance methods and procedures at other 3M locations and outside industries for benchmarking and possible local application.
Participate with Plant Engineering, Division Engineering, and Production supervision to plan installation and / or modification of production equipment.
Assist in the training of maintenance and production personnel on the appropriate use, maintenance and repair of equipment.
Analyze plant site utility, fuels, energy, air, and water utilization to identify and recommend opportunities for improving effectiveness.
Review and evaluate production and maintenance requests for equipment modification (Management of Change - MOC) to assure changes are consistent with acceptable engineering principles and practices.
Provide input in the development and implementation of metrology, stockroom, CMMS, shop work order systems, and other administrative programs for effective maintenance operations.
Define preventive and predictive maintenance processes for optimizing effectiveness of maintenance procedures and maximizing equipment reliability and runtime.
Assure effective security practices on assigned projects and contracted maintenance work to protect engineering technology and sensitive information.
Evaluate equipment and maintenance history to determine, develop, and implement appropriate preventive maintenance requirements and / or recommend predictive maintenance programs for optimizing
effectiveness of maintenance procedures and maximizing equipment reliability and runtime.
Maintain effective cost and schedule controls, and prepare progress reports on assigned cost center accounts and projects.
Participate in preparation of renewal plans for repair and replacement of equipment and facilities.
Contribute to effective operation of the organization by fostering teamwork in support of daily operations and as a member of project teams.
Assist in the improvement of the Maintenance Planning / Scheduling process.
Represent Plant Engineering as needed during daily Tier Review meetings.
Additional accountabilities as assigned by Plant Engineering Manager.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
* Bachelors degree in an Engineering discipline
* Minimum of 3 years experience in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Minimum 5 years experience in bulk material processing and experience in maintenance, project engineering, or production operations experience is preferred.
*
Must have and demonstrate superior planning and organizing skills, and must be very proficient at using and interpreting data to analyze performance, make plans and make decisions.
*
Knowledge of basic maintenance fundamentals, heavy equipment operations, and project planning is required.
*
Ability to learn and use computer based systems (to include but not limited to Maximo CMMS, PeopleSoft, SAP, Microsoft Excel, and Lotus Notes) is essential and required.
